Over the last week I have had the privilege of attending Remembrance events across the constituency.

From the quiet dignity of the services at our military cemeteries to the powerful parades led by veterans, cadets and serving personnel, every event was a reminder of the courage, sacrifice and hope of those who served and of the families who stood behind them. It was very moving to see our community come together to honour those who gave everything for our country.

Remembrance runs deep here in the Home of the British Army. It lives in our streets, our schools, our regimental history, and in the everyday pride people take in our armed forces. These occasions remind us not only of the price of freedom, but of the importance of peace and of the duty we all share to build a fairer, safer and more compassionate world.

I want to thank every organiser, volunteer, veteran, and young person who made these commemorations so special. Whether you laid a wreath, played in a band, marshalled a parade, or simply stood in silence, you helped keep alive the promise that we will remember them. It is a promise that defines this constituency and unites us all.

This is what happens when Labour MP works with a Labour Council and Labour Government to invest in skills and education for our young people. Together, we’re building a brighter future for the next generation!
