Together, Alex Baker MP and Rushmoor Borough Council have secured £20 million to improve the Cherrywood area through the Labour Government’s ‘Pride in Place’ programme.
This funding will bring real investment into the heart of the community and support long-term, community-led change.
Residents will shape the priorities, with funding available to support community spaces, skills and training, and new youth and cultural opportunities, depending on what matters most to local people.
A neighbourhood board will be established, bringing together residents, community representatives, councillors and an independent chair. It will set out a clear plan for the investment and ensure it delivers real, lasting change for Cherrywood ward.
It marks a decisive shift. Where communities like Cherrywood have too often felt overlooked, this funding is about backing local potential and putting power back where it belongs.
Cherrywood is a key neighbourhood in Farnborough, home to several schools and Farnborough Sixth Form College, as well as community sites like Farnborough football ground and Cove Brook.
Alex Baker MP, Member of Parliament for Aldershot and Farnborough, said:

“So I’m proud that we’re changing that, in partnership with our Labour council and Government. Through this funding we’re bring investment to those who need it and putting power back in the hands of local people.”
