Wonderful to join the Greater Rushmoor Nepali Community and Rushmoor Borough Council for their International Women’s Day celebration over the weekend.

It was special to see so many inspiring women from across our community together in one room. From the generations of Gurkha wives who kept families strong while their loved ones served, to community leaders today like GRNC President Lila Seling Mabo, their contribution to Rushmoor is extraordinary.

It was also great to see community organisations brought together, including the Thriving Community Project and Amani Women’s Organisation, sharing the work they are doing in Rushmoor and beyond.

Thank you for such a warm welcome and for everything you do for our community💐

More reliable trains for Farnborough Main because of action I’ve taken with Southwestern Railways (SWR)🚆🚨

Following my discussions with SWR, they’ve changed their approach to train delays, identifying key morning fast trains that will prioritise stopping at Farnborough even during delays. These services include the 0759, 0831, 0932 and 1030 weekday departures from Farnborough Main.

As a local commuter, I know how frustrating it is when services are distrupted and trains don’t stop at our station. So this is a huge win for our community, putting service reliability for commuters first!

There’s still more to do, and I’ll keep working with SWR and pushing for better train services for Farnborough.

I was honoured to serve lunch to the amazing volunteers at Farnborough Foodbank today, celebrating the people who give their time to support people across Aldershot and Farnborough 💚

Led by Ruth Masih, Farnborough Foodbank has been a lifeline for many in our community, and some of the volunteers I met have been supporting the foodbank since 2008! Their commitment and compassion are truly inspiring.

While none of us want families to have to rely on foodbanks, I’m deeply grateful for the volunteers who step up and help others when they need it most.

Farnborough Foodbank are still looking for a permanent home, their ideal space would include:
• Ground floor warehouse space (around 2,500 sq ft)
• Parking for around 10 cars
• Office space for three desks
• Good access for deliveries
• Located within Aldershot or Farnborough

👉 If you know of a suitable space please get in touch with the team at: [email protected]

Out doorknocking today with a fantastic team of Labour women councillors and candidates, and it felt like the perfect way to mark International Women’s Day.

These are inspiring women who are stepping forward to serve our community — listening to residents on the doorstep, standing up for their neighbours, and putting themselves forward to represent the places they care about.

As the first woman ever elected to represent Aldershot and Farnborough in Parliament, I know how important representation is. Progress happens because people step forward and say they want to serve their community.

Community leadership often starts exactly like this: with people willing to give their time, knock on doors, have conversations and work together to make our towns better.

I’m proud to work alongside so many dedicated women who are helping shape the future of Aldershot and Farnborough.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the women who serve our communities every day. 🌸

Following the publication of the SEND White Paper, today I hosted a roundtable with Calvin Bailey MBE MP and Education Minister Georgia Gould, focusing on the unique challenges Service families face when it comes to provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

We were joined by the Family Federations for the RAF, Royal Navy and Army, and service charities including SSAFA and RBL. We tackled issues like the disruption caused by frequent relocations and the difficulty in transferring support plans between local authorities.

We’re determined to ensure no child is left behind and that military families get the consistent support they deserve, no matter where they are stationed.

As the situation in Iran escalates, my thoughts are with everyone who is affected. I am also thinking of our serving personnel across the region and Armed Forces families in Cyprus, including some from our own community in Aldershot.

During the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday, I stressed the importance of clear communication and reassurance from the Ministry of Defence for those families living with fear, and of ensuring we are prepared to face these growing threats.

As the Home of the British Army, we feel these moments deeply. We stand in solidarity with all those affected, and with the families who serve our country with such courage and resilience.

I wanted to look back at another busy month Aldershot and Farnborough, speaking to as many residents as possible to discuss the issues that matter most to you!

✔️ Launching the Aldershot & Farnborough Growth Partnership to boost local jobs and skills
✔️ Holding residents’ meetings in Rowhill, Cherrywood and Wellington
✔️ Plenty of conversations on the doorstep across Rushmoor

Listening. Acting. Delivering for our community.
