Investing in the future
The sense of optimism at this year’s Freshers Fairs at Farnborough College of Technology and Farnborough Sixth Form College was especially striking.

A fresh start for our schools
Taking my daughters to school last week was a moment of pride mixed with emotion. It reminded me how important the Labour’s drive to put education back at the heart of national priorities is.

Forces families deserve the very best start.
That’s why I’ve written a report with recommendations to ensure Best Start Family Hubs are equipped to meet the realities of military life.
From deployment to relocation, the challenges forces families face are unique – and they deserve the right support. That’s why I’ve brought together the voices of serving personnel and military charities, to make sure these hubs serve their needs.
I’m now taking these recommendations to the Education Secretary so that hubs genuinely work for forces families.

Aldershot is a slot farm with blatant advertising directly to the Nepalese? Can you tell me how you allow this?
Just to be clear - it's the Tories who took all of our money over the last fifteen years. 🙄
So tell me after ur mob have taken all our money how can we go running round ur clubs.with empty pockets

I had a lovely time visiting Bohunt Farnborough, who were recognised as one of the most improved schools in the UK. It was inspiring to see the dedication of the staff and the ambition of the students.
They are proof of what’s possible when we invest in education. That is why our government is committed to supporting every school and every student. It’s why we’ve launched a Curriculum and Assessment Review to help improve schools, and have recently started rolling out school-based nurseries to give children the best start.
Thank you so much to Bohunt School for having me and for all the amazing work your teachers and students do everyday!

Excellent work, well done. 👏
What’s wrong with wanting every state school to be first class? Our family send our children to private schools. We accept VAT must be paid

It was great meet so many brilliant students at the Fresher’s Fairs at Farnborough College of Technology and The Sixth Form College Farnborough last week. Thank you to the teachers and staff who made this possible and for the incredible work you do every day to support our young people.
The conversations I had were so inspiring. Seeing students engaged - raising issues like jobs, education and the climate - was uplifting, and I’ll be taking their concerns forward in my work.
The decisions we make today shape the generations of tomorrow. That’s why we’ve already opened up opportunities through Skills England and the Industrial Strategy, creating the apprenticeships and skills education young people need for their careers. I’ll keep working with the Government to build on this progress and help deliver a brighter future for the next generation.

It’s Heritage Open Day this weekend! 🎉
This is your chance to go behind the scenes at some of our area’s most fascinating heritage sites, including our famous wind tunnel. If you’re around this weekend, come along and see it for yourself at Farnborough Business Park. Ans make sure to check out the other incredible sites we have as well.
A big thank you to Rushmoor Borough Council for helping make this possible.

A must see bit of aviation magic. Cutting edge engineering in its time, it was a key part of winning WW2. Farnborough's hidden history.
Maybe get all the patriotic flags down first?
Absolutely Q121 well worth seeing.

Today we mark Nepal’s National Day, also known as Constitution Day. This year’s celebrations come at a time of challenge and change, making it all the more important to reflect on the values that bind us together.
I have joined our Nepali community at many events this year and am always struck by the strength and kindness that shines through. Meeting Nepali youth in Aldershot last week, I tried to carry their strength and desire for hope into Parliament, submitting an Urgent Question to the Foreign Secretary, meeting Foreign Minister Seema Malhotra, and speaking with Britain’s Ambassador to Nepal to press for action at this critical moment. This year also marks 10 years since the devastating earthquakes and 10 years since Nepal adopted its constitution. Those same qualities carried Nepal through loss and rebuilding, not only of homes and communities, but of a vision for the country’s future.
That resilience gives me hope that Nepal will continue towards a bright and democratic future. For over 200 years Gurkhas have stood alongside Britain, and today our vibrant British-Nepali communities contribute so much to our national life. At this moment of transition, Britain must stand with Nepal, on the side of hope and democracy. And I will keep working with our communities and this government to secure that future together. ... Peace in Northern Ireland was only made possible by the brave members of our Armed Forces who served with honour to keep people safe. Today’s announcement on a new legacy framework is a significant step in resolving the unfinished business of the Good Friday Agreement and getting answers for hundreds of Forces Families who lost loved ones during The Troubles.
The previous Conservative Government’s Legacy Act made flawed and undeliverable promises. It was struck down in the courts and left veterans exposed to a legal wild west. That’s why the Government is now putting in place a fairer, more transparent system that can deliver answers for families and protections for those who served.
I will stand with our veterans and welcome the new rights and protections for veterans announced today. These include protections from repeated investigations, cold calls and other measures to safeguard their health and wellbeing. No one who served with honour should have to face an endless cycle of legal uncertainty.
I will be engaging closely with veterans’ groups and others affected, scrutinising the new legislation when it is published and working with Ministers to ensure we get this right. I have already been in dialogue with the Armed Forces Minister Al Carns - who served in Northern Ireland himself - and know he is as focused as I am on ensuring those who served are protected, that veterans’ voices are heard and that the families of service personnel who lost loved ones during the Troubles finally get the answers they deserve. ... You didn't reply because soldier F is still being hounded, still in court, still no intervention by you or anyone else. You'll do the same for Veterans from the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan, its what you do, Labour send our soldiers to war, then prosecute them.
Is soldier F currently in court? There should be zero prosecutions of NI Veterans, the terrorists were given amnesty and comfort letters by a Labour government, British soldiers are still being hounded.
I was grateful to meet with Foreign Office Minister Seema Malhotra on Monday to discuss the situation in Nepal.
Following the recent events, which have taken a huge toll on the Nepalese community here in Aldershot, Farnborough and across the UK, I have submitted an Urgent Question in Parliament and am working with colleagues and the Foreign Office to press for action.
As Britain’s oldest friend, with over 200 years of Gurkha service, Nepal has always stood alongside us. At this critical moment, we must show that Britain will stand with the Nepalese people as they seek accountability, reform, and a more democratic future. ... See MoreSee Less

Ahh yes Britain has only existed for 200 years... I always forget that
Good job MP But I suggest to UK Government that if they want to help or support to Nepal Govt or organisations, better to take advice, suggestion or consult with NRNA UK and NRNA ICC because it is only official and authorised organisation to represent Nepali in abroad and in Nepal by Nepali Government, otherwise every help and donation to Nepal is misuse without proper reaching to needy one.
Can you tell us what the question was or is it a quiz similar to the Radio Surrey's morning show.

🏡 Housing is one of the biggest issues raised with me by residents. So it was great to meet Mark Perry, CEO of VIVID Homes, to discuss how we can deliver more quality homes for local people.
VIVID are already transforming our community, having delivered 671 homes in Aldershot on top of their North Town regeneration scheme, which is due to be finished by the end of this year. I’m excited to drive this progress further across the whole constituency.
I also raised concerns I’ve heard directly from residents, and spoke with VIVID about how we can work together with councils and ministers to resolve these issues.
Everyone deserves a safe and affordable home. I’ll keep working to make that a reality here in Aldershot and Farnborough. ... See MoreSee Less

I have no complaints about vivid. They are always helpful and maintain their properties well as far as I am concerned
Alex it would be very nice if you could visit us at Wavell Court , come and have a cuppa with us and listen to what we have to say about Stonewater.
Wish Vivid would maintain the flats they already have. I have been so saddened to see the state of the flats where my daughter lives and how everything has deteriorated over the last few years. Getting Vivid to act on this has been impossible!

Farnborough food bank need your help!
For 5 years, they’ve supported families across Aldershot & Farnborough from their base at Browning Barracks. With the site now due for demolition, they urgently need a new home.
The foodbank feeds more than 3,000 people in our community every year — and they can’t do it without a place to operate from.
The ideal space would have:
A ground floor warehouse space (to rent, share, or potentially donate). Approx. 2,500 sq ft
Nearby parking for 10 cars
Office space for three desks
Good access for deliveries
A location within Aldershot or Farnborough
👉 If you know of a suitable space, please get in touch using the details on this post: [email protected] ... See MoreSee Less

I never understand why MPs promote Food Banks especially when they're in government.
Shops empty Aldershot town centre, near supermarkets where foodbank could collect food about to be chucked out!
Food banks are born out of the failure of government and local authorities. 😢
