Let’s get behind our London Marathon stars

The London Marathon is on Sunday and I would like to give a massive shout out to all the local people who will be running.

I’m not participating this year, but I have in the past so I know first-hand just how much effort – and suffering – is involved.

I want to congratulate each of you for getting this far – particularly for the long hours spent training and preparing – and to wish you luck on the day.

Beyond the physical feat of running 26 miles, your fundraising efforts will also make a real difference to those in need.

In this community we have runners raising funds for local charities, such as Vision 4 Youth, as well as many great national ones.

If you’re as inspired by these amazing people as I am, please consider donating to their causes, using the links below:

Jenson Baxendale, running for Starlight UK

Charlotte Hutchinson, running for Embrace, Child Victims of Crime

Joe Robison, running for the NSPCC

Nicola Dyer, running for local charity, Vision 4 Youth

Wayne Lakin, who is guiding Andy Leitch and supporting Blind Veterans UK

Hayley Noakes, running for the British Heart Foundation

Chantelle Bowman running for MIND

Bianca Dauscha for an Arthritis Charity

Ekaterina Crawford running for Long Covid SOS

Chris Mack, who will be running two marathons in three weeks for Children with Cancer UK

Ashley Harvell, running for Breast Cancer Now

Hannah Jaine running for Refuge.

Adam Parker is running for Rethink Mental Illness

Surya Peepal is also running but sadly I don’t know what charity he is supporting.

If you know anyone else from the Aldershot, Blackwater, Farnborough, Hawley or Yateley area who’s running, please feel free to add a link to their fundraising page on my Facebook post.

A huge congratulations to everyone opening their GCSE and BTEC results today! 🎊📚

You should be so proud of all the hard work and determination that’s brought you here, no matter what’s in that envelope.

Thank you as well to the parents, carers and teachers who have supported our students every step of the way.

This is the start of a new chapter, with so many opportunities ahead. Whether you’re heading off to Farnborough Sixth Form, Farnborough College of Technology, staying on for sixth form at school, starting an apprenticeship or choosing something completely different, there are lots of exciting paths to explore. Whatever you choose next, it’s a chance to build on the things you enjoy and start shaping the future you want.

Celebrate everything you’ve achieved today, and I wish you all the very best for what comes next. 🌟
